German doctors say that after more than three years after a stem cell treatment patient known as the “Berlin Patient” is know HIV Free!!
He sought treatment for acute myeloid leukemia A chemo was not effective and his German doctor Geor Hutter suggested using bone marrow transplant from a donor with a rare genetic mutation that is naturally resistant to HIV. It’s worth noting that 100 in 1 Caucasians have this genetic trait.
The procedure is extremely invasive and would probably kill many infected patients but is a progressive step in the right directions.
