(don't know why but blog spot removed this post yesterday , so I'm reposting it)
There was a poetry reading at the White House on 5/11/11(possibly 5/20), but one of the attendee’s was Grammy award winner Common. His presence in the White House has caused a backlash from New Jersey Police , Republican correspondents, to Fox News Channel. They accuse him of being a reverse racist and supporting a cop killer?
It seems as if everyone decided to see how outrageous they can be, New Jersey police are protesting and accusing the man of reverse racism and glorying cop killing. The reason being is the song titled “a Song For Assata”, which pertains to Assata Shakur(Ironically I just reviewed her book not to long ago).He did not perform at the White House by the way. The lyrics to the song do not say anything in there about going to kill cops or anything of the sort, he read her autobiography and dedicated a song to her and for the record I’m going to put some facts out there about Assata. She was investigated by 3 medical examiners one of them concluded that she was paralyzed after she had been shot(meaning she couldn’t fire the gun), a surgeon testified saying it was “anatomically necessary that both her arms be in the air for Mrs. Cheismard(Assata Shakur) to receive the wounds” (meaning her hands were in the air when the police shot her), a pathologist testified that “there was no conceivable way that a bullet could have traveled over to hit the clavicle if her arm was down”, the neutron Activation test determined that her weapon had not been fired.
Sarah Palin played the political card on Fox news and to be honest did not have a legitimate argument, she kept saying the “White House this and the White House that”, but never said anything and then went on to say “ I’m certainly not anti rap, I mean I know the words to Rapper’s Delight” and went on to make baseless points and whatever else came to her mind.
Fox news just had a field day with the story giving it all kinds of twist and angles, putting that real good News spin on it.
Don’t be fooled by these people he is a wonderful brother I have all of his albums, think it’s time to put up some Common reviews as an ode to all the people that are now against him, and what about when Ted Nugent and Johnny Cash came to the White House?
Below is a link to the song “A song for Assata” I want you to hear the so called dangerous rappers and some qoutes from the press secretary and Common
"While the president doesn't support the kind of lyrics that have been raised here, some of these reports distort what Mr. Lynn [Common] stands for more broadly." said White House press secretary Jay Carney.
"One of the things the president appreciates is the work Mr. Lynn has done with children, especially trying to get them to focus on poetry as opposed to some of the negative influences of life on the streets," he said.
This is what Ted Nugent said about Obama and Hilary "I said, Hey, Obama! You might want to suck on one of these, you punk!" Obama, he's a piece of (expletive), and I told him to suck on my machine gun. Let's hear it for him! And then I was in New York. I said, Hey, Hillary! You might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless (expletive)"
Here is some Johhny Cash lyrics who was awarded The medal of music and arts by George W. Bush
Early one mourning while making my rounds
I took a shoot of cocaine and shot my woman down
I went right home and I went to bed
I stuck that loving 44 beneath my head
From Common’s Facebook page:
"Politics is politics and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I respect that. The one thing that shouldn't be questioned is my support for the police officers and troops that protect us every day. Peace yall!"
here is my review of her book http://ocean-unchartedwaters.blogspot.com/2011/04/assata-autobiography-review.html

Def saw the post on this earlier.. Dam shame how people knit pick and scrap for songs to say someone is a bigot... But we have to be discerning enough to realize that no man is perfect and they grow
ReplyDeleteI blame fox news channel, they say what they feel like when they feel like it no matter how right winged it may be and they say it all day on the different shows.
