Erykah Badu New Video

R.I.P Geronimo Pratt

Erykah Badu has directed her latest video for the song Out my mind/Just in Time on her album New Amerykah Pt.2. She teamed up with Dame Dash’s umbrella corporation Creative Control for another innovative video. In this new age of Technicolor videos , phantom images, and green screens(no offense to any of those cause I use those effects) it is nice to see something refreshingly retro.

Shot in black in white it is a complexly simple video. It is her in a night gown dancing, but it’s more than that to me. It is ballet, interpretive dance, and a little break dancing in their as well. I like the grace and elegance she has in the video, besides the nutcracker this is the only ballet I have ever seen. It’s different and I like the ascetics and the art behind it, and the moves seem to go along with the lyrics.

The video is from movement 1 from the song, the actual song itself is 10 minutes long and has three movements. Badu explained the tracks "It's a three-movement song. The first movement is called 'Recovering Undercover Over-lover.' It actually sums up the whole album, because I'm talking about love and emotion – 'I need you to do this,' 'I want you to do this,' 'You make me feel like this,' 'Why don't you feel like this?' It's typical of how you feel in relationships. The second movement is called 'Easier Said Than Done,' and it's about how hard it is to change after you've been in a relationship for so long. And then the third movement is called 'But Not This Time,' because even though I've done things a certain way for so long, I won't do that this time."(E.Badu Quick magazine).

Short video only a minute, but I do believe that it will be two more parts coming out as well, here is the link below.
