Baseball the highest paid sport in America is becoming scrutinized for not having many U.S born black players. Opening day the percentage of black players was 8.2%, down 2% from last year. The commissioner Bud Seilng plans to address this issue.
MLB does not want to pay a black man to be on the bench. When you think of black players they are mainly superstars or playmakers. The black player has to be good or he will be in the minor leagues. Even worse is the fact that only 3% of pitchers are black. Why pay this black guy to sit on the bench when we can pay this mediocre white kid?
Take the Atlanta Braves, Jason Heyward is the only black player on the team and right now he is on the DL so the whole team is white with the exception of a few Latino players, and they will not win a championship until they get more black players.
But do you feel that the black athletes are putting forth the effort towards being great Baseball players? Or are they acting on desires to become Basketball and Football players instead? I agree that baseball needs more ethnicity, but it is the "All American Pastime"....and America consist of more Latinos and Caucasians than American Blacks.
