A few weeks ago I was lounging in Atlanta with my good friend Alex Bluff AKA @MrConsciousness scrolling through Netflix and I came across a cartoon series called The Black Panther. Intrigued I watched all six episodes and was blown away to say the least. The Black Panther was an Animated series based of the worlds first African American hero created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the 1960's
The Black Panther is the ceremonial title given to the chief of the Panther Tribe of the worlds most advanced nation, an AFRICAN nation by the name of Wakanda. Wakanda is a fictional nation, that has remained unconquered through out the ages. A utopian society, Wakanda is a peaceful country that is far more superior not only in a technological sense, but in an ethical sense than the rest of the world. Rich in natural resources, Wakanda is the only place inthe world that holds large deposits of Vibranium a fictional element that absorbs sound vibrations. "First world powers" like the US and Great Britian are eager become allies and trade with Wakandans, but thier Leader the Black Panther refuses to do business with any European Nations. In the animated series a villian by the name of Klaw hatchs a scheme to kill the Black Panther and plunder Wakanda for its Vibranium supply. As leader and defender of Wakanda, T'Challa aka "The Black Panther" must ward off Klaw and his band of villians.
Man forget Superman, Spiderman, and Batman (even though I fucks with Batman the long way) the Black Panther is that deal, greatest super hero ever. Surprisingly this cartoon was produced by the good folks over at BET, but it never aired in America, ras clot *sucks teeth like a true Jamaican*. The Black Panther animated series aired in 2010 in Australia (of all places) and was canceled after only 6 episodes. Who knows what the hell BET was thinking about, last time I checked there was no real black demographic in Australia. Although the series’ animation isn't the greatest and there's only 6 episodes I still think this is the best cartoon I've ever seen. Although it’s fictitious, I got a kick out of watching a sociopolitical cartoon that features a righteous Black man not only run the world’s most advanced nation, but stomp the dog shit out of anyone who attempted to get involved with his nations affairs, black or white. If I could I'd pack up all my stuff and moved to Wakanda but its a cartoon. If you’ve got some spare time watch it you won’t be disappointed. Episodes of “The Black Panther” are up on youtube or you can download them below…P.E.A.C.E- Fredrick Thuglass
